Who we are

We are Asociación Civil Nuria Tierra del Fuego, a non-profit NGO responsible for managing the Ushuaia Botanical Garden.

We are members of Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), Biomes Connections, and the Argentine Network of Botanical Gardens (RAJB).

In the beginning

A story of collaboration between government institutions, NGOs, and the community.

At the First Biodiversity Forum of the Americas in 2010, Jeanitto Gentilini, director of the Brasília Botanical Garden, and Ana Faggi, president of the Argentine Network of Botanical Gardens, discussed the possibility of creating a botanical garden in Ushuaia on land protected by Asociación Civil Nuria TDF since 1996.

From that gesture, a joint journey began, culminating in the creation of the Ushuaia Botanical Garden through an agreement signed with the local municipality in 2018.

Inspired by this experience, the international NGO Biomes Connections was born, with the mission of connecting people, cultures, and knowledge from around the world through the creation of conservation spaces—pioneered by the Ushuaia Botanical Garden.

At Present

We propose the Ushuaia Botanical Garden as a “green classroom” where visitors, scientists, students, artists, and researchers from around the world can find inspiration.

Our goal is to awaken core values around forest care, the contemplation of beauty, and the well-being that comes from connecting with nature.
