Conservation Plan subsidized by the Forestry Law

The main objective of the Ushuaia Botanical Garden Conservation Plan, subsidized by the Forestry Law, is the in situ conservation of the native forest and associated flora in an area of 10 hectares.

This plan includes sustainable management of the area with low environmental impact, environmental education activities, promotion of community involvement, and improvement of the quality of urban life through contact with nature. In addition, it seeks to scientifically document the species and encourage public use of the garden as a space for recreation and learning.

Annual Operating Plans

The Conservation Plan is organized through annual operational plans. The Ushuaia Botanical Garden has executed three operational plans and is currently carrying out the actions corresponding to Annual Operational Plan 4.

Achievements of operational plans

  • Creation of the logo and signage at the entrance to the Botanical Garden.
  • Equipment of the Interpretation Trail AshunnaThe park is equipped with low environmental impact elements, educational signage and visitor support areas.
  • Accessibility of 300 m. of the interpretation trail.
  • Floristic report made in 2021 with the list of species present in the Botanical Garden.
  • Development of the JBU Environmental Education Program: school visits throughout the province and awareness-raising activities for the community and visitors.
  • Workshop on Botanical Garden Management, dictated by Ing. Agr., M.Sc. Marcela Sanchez, president of the Red Arg. de J.B.
  • Open days to the community for the rescue of renewable forests.
  • Construction of a greenhouse.
  • Adequacy of the perimeter fence for the protection of the native forest.

The Conservation Plan is carried out with a subsidy from Law 26.331 of Minimum Budgets for the Protection of Native Forests (Ley de Bosques).
